Ruth McHardy Dutreix, 88, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Saturday January 17, 2015 at a local care center surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born in Baton Rouge to Robert Gordon and Irene Buquet McHardy. She was raised in Baton Rouge and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. She married Joseph H. Dutreix on June 21, 1947, and together, they made their home in Shreveport before moving to Lake Charles in 2011. In Shreveport, she was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and took part in all of the Knight of Columbus functions. Preceding Ruth in death were her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Joseph Dutreix, Lake Charles; one son, Harry and his wife, Laura, Kingwood, TX and daughter, Judi Welch and her husband Steve, Lake Charles; sister, Norma Aubin, Anacoco, LA; four grandsons, Brian Dutreix, Anchorage, AK, Bob Dutreix, Austin, TX, Todd Welch, Jackson, TN and Brett Welch and wife Nikki, Lake Charles; five great grandchildren, Olivia and Lillian Welch of Jackson, TN and Grace, Drew and Beau Welch of Lake Charles. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday January 24, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Catholic Funeral Rites will be at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Monsignor Harry Gregg officiating. Inurnment follow services at Consolota Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Peter Karam, the staff at the Gardens Assisted Living, the Guardian House, and the staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care and kindness.
