Ruth Thevenot Bellard

Ruth Thevenot Bellard, 90, of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in Missouri City, TX, following a brief illness. Mrs. Bellard was born and raised in Cottonport, LA. She met and married her husband of sixty-three years, Walter "Bill" Bellard and settled in Lake Charles to make it their home of fifty years. She then transferred with her husband to McAllen, TX for twenty years, and returned home to Lake Charles. Mrs. Bellard was an admirable woman of strength, faithful member of St. Henry Catholic Church, where she taught C.C.D. for many years and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing, road running with friends, cooking and making candy. "Her divinity was her most loved recipe". Mrs. Bellard will be most remembered for her devotion and care for her late husband, for always having a "happy" spirit and for loving life. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Monica Bellard Johnson and husband Mickey of Missouri City, TX; two grandchildren, Katie Eddy and husband Mike of Orlando, FL and Lindsay Crow and husband Jeremy of Missouri City, TX; four great-grandchildren, Braden, Avery and Connor Crow and Zachary Eddy; nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Walter "Bill" Bellard; parents, A.J. and Corale Moreau Thevenot; eight brothers, Otis, Henry, Herbert, Guy, Murley, John "Ory", Wiltz "Bis" and Ury "Ty" Thevenot and one sister, Lily Thevenot Ducote. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Alan Trouille will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Friday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Saturday will be from 10:00 AM until 12:45 PM in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or www.stjude.org.
