Ruth “Yvonne” Biven, 96, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 1:30 AM on Monday, January 1, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Biven was born November 29, 1921 in Choupique, LA and raised in the Carlyss area. She moved to Lake Charles in 1938 with her first job as a bookkeeper at a furniture store. While raising her children, she enjoyed life as a homemaker and stay at home mother. She later graduated from McNeese State University in 1971 with her education degree. She was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church and was a member of the campers on Mission. She was also an avid reader.
Mrs. Biven is survived by her sons, Donald Biven and wife Linda of Bay St. Louis, MS and Stuart Biven and wife Janet of Lake Charles; daughter, Ruth Manuel and husband John of Lake Charles; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Wilbur Biven; parents, Guy and Theodosia Broussard; two brothers; and two sisters.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Randy Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
