Ruthvan Hoyt Guillory, 77, of Lake Charles, LA passed away Thursday , July 31, 2014 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Guillory was born on January 19, 1937 in Basile, LA to Lucius and Elverta Guillory and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He served the United States Army. He was a mechanic in his younger years, later he becoming a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Guillory also worked fifteen years at the McNeese Farm before retiring. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed farming rice, soybeans, and cattle. He was a "grillmaster", taking pride in cooking for family gatherings. Mr. Guillory will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family and his desire to "do for" them at any given moment. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by,the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Velva Dean Rachal Guillory of Lake Charles; four children, Randell K. Guillory and wife Karen of Iowa, LA, Rebecca Gauthier and husband Terry of Lake Charles, LA, Russell J. Guillory and wife Khristina of Iowa, LA and Rhonda Grady and husband Dustin of Lacassine, LA; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nathan Guillory of Lafayette, LA and Leonard Guillory of Lafayette, LA and three sisters, Myrtle Guillory of Lafayette, LA, Linda Fontenot of Mamou, LA , and Sandra Guillory of Mamou, LA. Mr. Guillory is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday August 02, 2014 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Friday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home.
