Ryan David Backlund, 34, of Sulphur passed from this life into his eternal rest in his Father's arms on March 26, 2015. He was born to Michael and Evelyn Backlund on January 27, 1981. Ryan was a gentle, loving, and beautiful son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. A very special place was in his heart for his mama. Everyone who knew him admired his contagious smile and immense, giving ways. Enjoying his life fully he traveled the world and relished the time he was blessed with. Ryan was a friend to all, never met a stranger, and many called him, "Brother". His deep sense of family and his love for them as well as for his huge extended family of friends was exemplified by the words he shared and by his kind deeds. Grief over the loss of such an honorable, loving, and gentle man would be unbearable if not for the assurance that he is held in our Heavenly Father's arms, and we will reunite with him. Ryan leaves behind to cherish his memories, his father and mother, Michael and Evelyn Backlund of Sulphur; two loving brothers, Micah Backlund and wife Jennifer of Midland, TX and Heath Backlund and wife Kristin of Sulphur; his paternal grandparents, Benny R. and Virginia Backlund; maternal grandparents, Kenneth R. and Lillie Mae Ducote; his great aunt, Elsie "Sue" Brantley; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Genelle Backlund; his niece, Heather Backlund; his two uncles, John Backlund and James Roy Ducote; his cousin, Christropher Ducote.
