Sadie Joseph "Bud" Marcantel

Sadie Joseph “Bud” Marcantel, 76, of Westlake passed away at 10:40 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in a local care facility.

Bud was born on October 28, 1941 in Westlake where he lived all of his life and was a graduate of Westlake High School. He joined the US Marines during the Cuban Crisis and was honorably discharged just prior to the Vietnam War. Bud worked as a truck driver for numerous years before retiring. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake and was an ACTS Brother. He was known as a prayer warrior who prayed for any and everyone.

He loved and enjoyed his family and was an accomplished singer who was honored to have recorded two record labels in Nashville, TN.

Those left to cherish his memory are son, Colton Duplechain (Mary) of Westlake; daughter, Maria Boseley of Ragley; sister, Edie Post of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Marcantel; sister, Arlene Kelly; and a great grandchild.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. The Rev. Jenish Joseph will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Landmark of Lake Charles and to Heart of Hospice for their professionalism and compassion given to Bud and his family.
