Sammie Janet Sonnier LaFosse, 65, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 2:30 Pm on Thursday, March 10, 2016.
Mrs. LaFosse was born September 10, 1950 in Lake Charles, LA, where she has lived most of her life. She was a 1970 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University. She was raised catholic, was a past member of Abundant Life Fellowship and Glad Tidings Assembly of God and was a current member of Grace Church in DeQuincy, LA. She was very active with her church community and volunteered with One Touch Ministries and Ladies AGLOW. Mrs. LaFosse was a true prayer warrior and lived by the Bible. Her true passion in life was for Jesus Christ, followed by her husband, children, and family. She had a bright spirit and her colorful and unique vocabulary will always be remembered.
Mrs. LaFosse is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Roger LaFosse; son, Justyn LaFosse and wife Tammy; daughters, Rena Michelle Harris and husband Shannon, Rebecca Dupré and husband Eric, all of Lake Charles, LA and Noel Fontenot and husband Mark of Sulphur, LA; brother, Gary Sonnier and wife Kay of Westlake, LA; best friend, Kitty Bleich of Lake Charles; special niece, Kim VanderHoek and husband Richard of Texas; nine grandchildren; and numerous other nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Rena Sonnier; and sister, Beverly Fouts.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Penny Blackburn will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
