Sammy V. Hickman

October 1, 1945 — January 30, 2016

Sammy Vincent Hickman, 70, went to be with His Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2016, as his faithful family was at his side.

A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Sam was born to Charles W. “Red” and Joan Hardeman Hickman. He was a 1963 graduate of Lake Charles High School and received his BA from McNeese State University in 1974. He worked in industry for more than forty years as a drafter, retiring from Olin Chemicals in 2010. Sammy enjoyed all sports, but particularly enjoyed playing tennis and golf. He was a faithful member of Lake Charles Bible Church.

He leaves behind his wonderful wife of almost fifty years, Paula Walker Hickman, a most precious gift from God; his mother, Joan Hardeman Hickman; his sister, Michael Ann Davis of Dallas; two grandchildren, Bailey Hickman and Taylor Hickman of Houston; and nieces, nephews, extended family and faithful friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Hickman; his father; his brother, Charles “Chuck” Hickman, and his sister Patricia Hickman Williams.

A celebration of Sam’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate. Interment will be at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
