Samuel Mark Briggs

Samuel Mark Briggs, 62, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:17 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in a local hospital. Mr. Briggs was born on November 27, 1952 in Lake Charles, LA where he resided all of his life. He was a graduate of Sewanee Military Academy and attended McNeese State University. Mr. Briggs was an avid fisherman and hunter and had a passion for history. He will be remembered as a devoted family man who adored his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Pamela G. Briggs; a daughter, Alyson Briggs Gomez (Joey) of Dallas, TX; a son, Michael Bonham Briggs (Haley) of Grand Lake; a sister, Jane Anderson of Lake Charles; a brother, John Briggs (Susan) of Lake Charles; and four grandchildren, Everett Briggs, Samuel Gomez, Harper M. Briggs, and Charles Gomez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Charles "Sonny" Briggs; a sister, Claire Mack; and a grandson, Maddox K. Briggs. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 18, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Andrew Martin will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
