Scott Ayres

Scott Griffith Ayres, 49, of Houston, Texas, died, Thursday, February 7, 2013.


Scott was born in Lake Charles and a graduate of Barbe High School. He was a member of the 1980 Barbe Football team that played in the State 4A Finals. Scott was selected to the all district team that year and also selected by the Louisiana State Sportswriters to the 4A All-State Team and was also selected as the Most Valuable Offensive Player. Scott was awarded a football scholarship to Louisiana State University.


Scott was a successful sales representative in the oilfield, working with two of his brothers for Pro-ject Chemicals in the South East Texas region. Scott was particularly knowledgeable and experienced in analyzing and troubleshooting oilfield production issues and implementing chemical program solutions.


He is survived by his mother, Freddie Cleveland Ayres of The Woodlands; two sons, Scott Griffith Ayres, Jr. and Damian Ayres both of Houston; one sister, Frances Handy and her husband Major of Lafayette, LA. three brothers, John H. Ayres, III and his wife Deb of Denham Springs, LA, Robert Bobby Ayres and his wife Colleen of The Woodlands, and William Billy Ayres of Spring, TX.


His father, John Henderson Ayres, Jr., preceded him in death.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 14th, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Randy Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and from 8:00 AM until service time on Thursday.
