Scotty Gayle Rozas, Sr., 77, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 7:20 AM on Friday, September 11, 2020 in his residence.
Mr. Rozas was born August 2, 1943 in Eunice, LA, and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School, attended McNeese State University for pre-law, where he played clarinet in the MSU marching band. Mr. Rozas graduated from Louisiana State University Law School in 1967. He began his legal career as a clerk for Judge Clement Fruge at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and later was a law partner with Bill McLeod before opening his private practice as a plaintiff attorney. Following his retirement, he worked as an entrepreneur and businessman, developing the Texas Pelican Complex, along with his family. Mr. Rozas was a charter member of Krewe de la Famille, past president of the Downtown Optimist Club and past Governor of Louisiana District of Optimists. He served as a volunteer and financial supporter for the Boys’ Village, was a member of the McNeese Cowboy Club, past member of the Buccaneers, and was a member of many local and state bar associations throughout the years. He was a passionate Democrat and very active with local and state politics. Mr. Rozas was an avid New Orleans Saints fan since inception and a huge Frank Sinatra fan; he will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Rozas is survived by his wife of twelve years, Doris Johnsen Rozas; children, Suzanne LaBove and husband Darren, Scotty Rozas, Jr., Ryan A. Rozas and wife Ashley, and Katy J. Rozas; mother of his children, Barbara Rozas; and grandchildren, Claire LaBove-Barrentine, Daniel LaBove, Kade LaBove, Jace Rozas and Cooper Rozas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curry Rozas and Maisie Veillon; and sister, Jane Ava Scott.

The family will be receiving friends and family from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. Anyone wanting to share memories about Scotty can do so at 5:00 PM.
