Scotty Laurents

Scotty Laurents, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 28, 2023.

He was born on January 7, 1965, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Curtis and Betty Laurents. He served at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Offfice for 34 years before retiring as Lieutenant Public Relations Officer for Holmwood, Bell City, and Hayes. Scotty’s wife and sons also serve in the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. In addition to his law enforcement service, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Charles F. Adams DDG-2. He enjoyed motocross racing in Texas and Louisiana and was honored with an invitation to assist in the last AMA race held in New Orleans. Scotty enjoyed being on his tractor and working on projects around his family’s home.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 34 years, Gale Tarver Laurents; sons, Casey Laurents (Tiffany) and Aaron Laurents (fiancé Amanda); grandchildren, Grant Laurents and Brooklyn Edmonds; brother, Terry Laurents (Kelly); sisters, Roxanne Lonthier (Daniel), Tammy Young, and Cherie Laurents.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 2 pm. Rev. John Payne will officiate. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of the service.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
