Seidel S. Ike Hall, Jr.

February 23, 1922 — October 16, 2010

Mr. Hall peacefully died, his son at his bedside, at Summerfield Retirement Community in Slidell, Louisiana, where he had resided since December of 2009. He had been a resident of Lake Charles since 1950.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Ceocia Brammer Hall on October 15, 2007; by step-son, G. Brian Jones on January 22, 1985; his parents, Adele Tinner Hall and S. S. Hall.


He is survived by his step-son, G. Brice Jones of Slidell, Louisiana; daughters-in-law Sondra Jones Pilgren of Baton Rouge and Kathryn B. Jones of Slidell; grandson, G. Stewart Jones of Slidell; granddaughters, Jennifer Jones Mire of Natchez, Mississippi; Shelly Beth Jones Sisson of Covington, Louisiana; Paula Christian Jones of Baton Rouge; and, Melissa K. Jones, M. D. of Shreveport, Louisiana; his brother, E. Wayne Hall of Austin, Texas; niece, Julie Hall Pierro of Austin, Texas; nephews, Duncan Hall of Denton, Texas; Alan Hall of Brea, California; Richard Hall of Washington, D. C.; and six great-grandchildren.


He was born Seidel Seale Hall, Jr. on February 23, 1922 in Falfurrias, Texas, moving to Austin, Texas in his youth. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors degree (1942) and Masters Degree (1944) in Civil Engineering. He enlisted in the U. S. Army during World War II and served as a Staff Sergeant with the U. S. Corps of Engineers, Army Service Forces. He was discharged in 1946 and worked for Brown Root in Houston, Texas until 1950 when he moved to Lake Charles. For the next 47 years, he worked locally for Cities Service, Levingston Engineering, Lumis, Augustine Construction and the City of Lake Charles. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Calcasieu Area Council; active in the early development (1950s) of Camp Edgewood; served as Assistant and Scout Master of Troop 22 and Post 22, honored with the Silver Beaver, Order of the Arrow; he was an accomplished pianist and organist, and a Notary Public. He was a 55 year member of University United Methodist Church.


He dressed, spoke and lived as a gentleman. This is the legacy imparted to hundreds of young men.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. at University United Methodist Church in Lake Charles, LA, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Rev. Charlie Langford will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning on Tuesday, October 19, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Wednesday, October 20, from 9 a.m. until time of services.
