Shanna Gail Tarver, 45, of Sulphur, joined her heavenly father Thursday, March 17, 2016 in a local hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. She fought a courageous, lifelong battle against long QT syndrome and congestive heart failure and no longer has pain, but eternal rest.
Shanna was born on April 7, 1970 to Jimmy Poole and Velma Ingles and grew up in Big Lake. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially loved every moment spent with her dog, Tripp, and cat, Leia. She loved fishing, camping, and the outdoors as well as shopping and collecting memorabilia from the Victorian Era.
Shanna was a loving wife and mother and was dedicated to her husband, Joey, and their only child, Alisha. People who knew their family can attest to the love and devotion they shared. One of Shanna’s biggest accomplishments in life was raising her pride and joy, Alisha.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 30 years, Joseph Herman Tarver, daughter, Alisha Nicole Tarver, dog, Tripp, and cat, Leia, all of Sulphur; father, Jimmy Lee Poole and wife Dee of Big Lake; sister Becky Poole Burrows of Big Lake; lifelong friends Dena LeBleu Watson and Penny Holmes; longtime family friend, John Diamond of Sulphur; three nieces; two nephews; five great nephews; one great niece; one godchild; as well as all of her adopted grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Velma Ingles; brother, Dwain Poole; nanny Christine Hunt; and aunt, Judy Ingles.
Shanna’s funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016. It will resume on Sunday morning from 8:00 AM until the time of the service. Reverend Jerry E. Thompson will officiate services. Burial will follow at Big Lake Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations for charities that Shanna supported.
