Sharon Kay Odegar

June 21, 1944 — March 10, 2022

Sharon Kay Odegar was born June 21, 1944 in DeQuincy, LA to the late Roy and Dorothy Odegar.

From a young age, she had a passion for music. At seven years old, she learned to play the piano by ear. Her love of up-tempo music could be rooted to her going to square dances with her parents as a child.

Sharon attended LaGrange High School and graduated in the Class of 1962. She then enrolled in McNeese State University, where she obtained an associates degree in Secretarial Science.

Over the years, Sharon was employed for John Patin Law Firm, both the Calcasieu and Cameron Clerk of Court Offices and at various retail stores in the Southwest Louisiana area.

She had several passions: Elvis, karaoke, and making her famous lasagna from scratch. With Elvis playing in the background, Sharon taught her children and grandchildren to cook.

Saturdays were reserved for karaoke; she often invited her children to LaRumba in Sulphur for an evening of musical bravado. Sharon also enjoyed dancing to the upbeat tempo of country and swamp-pop songs.

Being an Elvis fan, her lifelong mission was to visit Graceland -- which she succeeded to do in the '90s. She also enjoyed watching LSU football and all of the trivia and game shows of the Game Show Network.

Sharon was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, and of course, Elvis. Those left to cherish her memory: her children, Rick (Sarah) Daughenbaugh, Lisa (Dwayne) Sonnier, and Leslie Ann Daughenbaugh; grandchildren, Jacob (Brianna) Daughenbaugh, Luke (Jacy) Daughenbaugh, Berkely Thornton, Jude Conner, Emily Daughenbaugh, and Parker Sonnier; one great grandson, Colten Daughenbaugh; and a brother, David M. (Sharon) Odegar.

Instead of black, the family invites you to wear Sharon's favorite color -- red -- to her visitation and service. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, and last until time of the service. Funeral services, led by Pastor Charles Miller, will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
