Sharon Lynne Spencer Cummings, 56, was called to her Heavenly Home by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Darrell Spencer will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Born to Stephen Marion and Billie Faye Adams Spencer in Lake Charles, Sharon was a graduate of Barbe High School and Northwestern State University. She worked for twenty-three years for the State of Louisiana, retiring on July 9, 2015. For most of those years, she was with the Department of Children and Family Services, serving children in foster care and adoption. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Sharon will be remembered for her love of God, her precious family, and her heart for others. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 33 years, Robert John Cummings; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Justin Schroeder; her son, Scott Cummings; her precious granddaughter, Piper Schroeder; one sister, Donna Spencer; one brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Laurie Spencer; and two nieces, Erin and Alaina Spencer. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial donations may be made to 89.1 FM Christian Radio Station (K-LOVE) at P. O. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the calls, cards, visits and prayers given to their beloved Sharon to the loving and faithful members of First Baptist Church, the neighbors of Stillwood Subdivision, co-workers of both the Department of Children and Family Services and Nelson Elementary School, the dedicated staff of Amedysis Hospice, and to all other friends and family who have supported them during Sharon's illness.
