Shawn David Carrel

Shawn David Carrel, 55, of Lake Charles, Passed away peacefully on Tuesday Sept. 19, 2023 in his home.

Shawn was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Henry P. (Jr.) and Brenda Marie Doucet Carrel and spent most of his life in the Southwest Louisiana area. For the past 13 years, he lived independently in his own apartment where he cared for his best four legged friend, Bertha. To know Shawn was to know the true meaning of unconditional love. He was a kind, gentle soul  who had a strong love for his small family circle. He lived for the days that he could spend time with family for birthdays and holidays. Shawn also had a great love for movies and music.

Shawn’s beautiful mother left for her heavenly home 16 years ago and always he longed longed for the day that he would see her again. We know he has been reunited with his mother and is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memories, his father of Lake Charles, beloved four legged companion and best friend, Bertha; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A gathering of Friends and Family will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday September 22, 2023 at the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery in Jennings.
