Shawn Tobias Moncrief

Shawn Tobias Moncrief, 44, of Lake Charles died at 3:15 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in a local hospital.

Shawn was born on March 31, 1969 in Pittsburg, CA. At the age of four, his parents moved to Lake Charles where he would reside for the remainder of his life. He was a 1987 Barbe High School graduate and attended LSU.

By nature, Shawn was a great cook and caregiver, which led him to partake in careers in the food and beverage industry and also as a personal care assistant. Most recently Shawn was a cook for Pappy's Deli and Pub.

Those left to cherish his memory are three sisters, Marietta Jean, Romaine Jean, and Nicole Moncrief all of Lake Charles and one brother Ronald Moncrief of Pittsburg, California; five nieces, Odelia Sweet and husband Louis, Audrianna, Stacie, Ashley, and Brittany Jean all of Lake Charles; a nephew, Montrel Shakur of Houston, TX, and a host of great neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou Anna Guillory Jean and Richard Moncrief, and two brothers Farrell Jean and Richard Moncrief.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Edward Alexander, Jr. with Christian Baptist Church will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will begin on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
