Shawn Wayne Curphy, 47, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, June 07, 2014, in Beaumont, TX. Mr. Curphy was born in Beaumont, Texas. With the exception of time spent in Colorado and Hawaii, he lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He is a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. He worked many years as a Realtor, primarily with Mike Bono Century 21. After leaving real estate Mr. Curphy worked as a Licensed Boat Captain and took part in the cleanup of the BP Oil Spill. His passion was riding and maintaining his Harley. Mr. Curphy was a member of HOG. His greatest love was his daughter and grandsons and the time they shared. He leaves to honor his memory, one daughter, Tara Curphy Sterling; three grandsons, Ashton Curphy and Dalton and Beau Sterling, all of Lake Charles; parents, Don Curphy and Tibby Lynch; step-father, James B. Lynch, all of Lake Charles; two brothers, Trent Curphy and wife Gena of Kingwood, TX and Kallen Curphy and fiancé Cindy Webb of Lake Charles; one nephew, Garett Curphy of Lake Charles and two nieces, Sarah and Leslie Curphy of Kingwood, TX. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and nephew, Hunter Wayne Curphy. Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Gathering of family and friends Thursday will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home.
