Shelby Jean Pike, 76, of Lake Charles died at 2:49 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in a local hospital. Mrs. Pike was born on February 11, 1938 in Fenton, LA. She was a bartender for several years then later retired from Wal-Mart. Mrs. Pike was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Altar Society, a Lay Minister, a caretaker of the church, and part of the bereavement team. She made her A.C.T.S. retreat in March of 2012. She loved animals and enjoyed watching nature from her front porch swing. Those left to cherish her memory are a brother, Frank Marcenac; children, Nancy Desormeaux and husband Jeff, Debbie Esthay, Tammy Manuel and husband Jay, Brenda Vezina and husband David, Earl Pike and wife Candy, and Barry Guidry; fourteen grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; and two adopted grandchildren. The father of her children Earl Pike. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Petite and Mew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adlus and Fannie Marcenac; a sister, Laura Belle Ritch; and a great granddaughter, Kyleigh Elizabeth Manuel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Sunday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
