Sherburne Joseph "S.J." Gomez, Jr., 62, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 in Houston, TX.
Mr. Gomez was a native of Bogalusa, LA and lived over forty years in Lake Charles. He retired Shift Supervisor after thirty years of service with PPG Industries. Following his retirement, he became the owner of Gomez Media/Video Productions. He shared his creative talents as a member of the Lake Charles Ad and Press Club, performing annually in the Gridiron show. Mr. Gomez also had a love for aviation, as both a recreational pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He enjoyed friends and good times and was a member of the Krewe du Lac. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
Mr. Gomez is survived by his wife of twenty years, Ginger Gomez; his daughters, Michelle Fuoco and husband Glenn of Tampa, FL and Kelly Langley and husband Ernie of Sulphur; four grandchildren, John Fuoco and Kaleigh, Kaycie and Kade Langley; one sister, Patricia Territo and husband Tommy of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Edward Gomez and wife Theresa of Bogalusa, Stephen Gomez of Baton Rouge and Michael Gomez and wife Kim of Baton Rouge and many nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherburne Joseph and Juanita Gomez of Bogalusa.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
