Sherrie Vernier Nichols, 65, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. Sherrie was known for her caring heart, her love for her family, and her faith in God.
Born on August 4, 1959, Sherrie enjoyed hunting and fishing with her father and brother, Charles. Her brother often said she was the best sister anyone could ask for. Her daughter, Natalie, shared that Sherrie was the best mother, a title Sherrie was proud to hold.
Sherrie was very close to her mother-they were not just mother and daughter but best friends. Sherrie had a special way of always looking her best. Her family lovingly called her "bougie" because she was always dressed up and stylish, something she embraced with pride. She was even heard requesting gourmet bacon wrapped shrimp at a the family crawfish boil!
When Sherrie was 15, she met the love of her life, her husband, and they were inseparable until his passing in 2000. Their marriage was filled with love, and they built their life together with faith and devotion. Sherrie and her husband were lifelong members of Glad Tidings Church in Lake Charles, where she always dressed her best.
Sherrie was known for keeping her home spotless and beautifully cared for. Even her toy poodle was always groomed and perfectly presentable. She loved her family deeply, but her daughter, Natalie, was the light of her life. Sherrie supported Natalie in everything she did and especially loved watching her dance. She often said Natalie was the best, and she meant it with all her heart.
Sherrie's love extended to her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was a giving, caring, and loving person who made everyone feel special. Her faith, love for her family, and strength will be remembered by all who knew her.
Sherrie is survived by her brother, Charles Vernier Jr.; her daughter, Natalie Savell (Steven); and her three grandchildren, Sarah Savell, Stanton Savell, and Scarlett Savell. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Vernier Sr. and Barbara Vernier, and her beloved husband.
A memorial service to honor Sherrie's life will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will be open to the public starting at 11:00 a.m. that same morning. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
Sherrie's family and friends will forever hold her memory close. Sherrie was heard saying "Dying is easy, and living is hard." Her love, grace, and devotion will never be forgotten as we must live without the loving presence of Sherri. Living truly will be hard. May she rest in peace, reunited with her husband in the presence of the Lord.
