Sherry Elizabeth Domingue Newsom

September 3, 1949 — May 16, 2013

Sherry Elizabeth Domingue Newsom, 63, of Sulphur passed away, Thursday, May 16, 2013 in a local hospital.


Mrs. Newsom was born in Lake Charles and was a graduate of Sulphur High School. Having followed her husband's Military career throughout the country, she lived many places, most of her life in the Westlake and Sulphur area. She worked her younger years as a waitress locally, primarily at Sheraton Chateau Charles and Lake Charles Country Club. The past ten years, as a tax preparer and office manager for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. Mrs. Newsom enjoyed being a member of the Buccaneers of Lake Charles, camping, shopping, decorating for the holidays and cooking, especially for family gatherings. Her greatest love, LSU football and her little dog, Jeaux Jeaux! She was also an active member of Maplewood First Baptist Church where she enjoyed book clubs and the church choir. Mrs. Newsom will be most remembered for her love of her husband, her loving smile, generous personality and as a best friend to her children.


She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Pierce Boots Newsom of Sulphur; two children, Angie Borel and husband James Bip and Michael Newsom and wife Brandi, both of Westlake; six grandchildren, Tyler Newsom and wife Tiffany; Laci Borel, Donavon Borel, Courtney Newsom, London Borel and Victoria Newsom; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Prudhomme, Landon Newsom and Brayden Prudhomme; one brother, Morris Stanley Domingue of Rayville, LA; one sister, Ann Woelke of Sulphur and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Juanita Domingue; one brother, Robert Domingue and one sister, Debra Lynn Domingue.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Doctor Ronnie Burke will officiate. Interment will follow in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Visitation Saturday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Sunday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
