Sheryl Griffin

October 14, 1951 — February 5, 2021

On Friday, February 5, 2021, Sheryl Hodges Griffin, 69, of Lake Charles, went to be with the Lord, while at home surrounded by her loving family and pastor.

Sherry was born on October 14, 1951, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She proudly marched with the Kilties at Lake Charles High School, and later graduated from McNeese State University.

In 1976, Sherry began her 42-year career at Firestone Polymers, holding several different roles before ending her profession as Human Resources Manager and fully retiring in 2018.  In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, and family vacations at her favorite beach. Her greatest calling was devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loyal friend. She was a faithful member of Apostolic Temple Pentecostal Church, where she played piano for many years, taught Sunday School, and supported all church gatherings and endeavors. 

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Roy and Ouida Donald Hodges. She is survived by her beloved daughters: Julie Richard (Jared), Jennings, LA; Vesta Griffin, Houston, TX; Courtney Robertson (Melan), West Monroe, LA; and Leslie Griffin, Lake Charles, LA; nine grandchildren; Kassidy Lasage, Lindsay Andreas (Cody), Keagan, Jillian, and Sophie Richard, Graham , Eden, and Celia Robertson, and Landon Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Hayes Andreas and Samuel Lasage; her sister, Marcia Bankens of Moss Bluff, LA; her brother, Thomas Hodges (JoAnn) of San Antonio, TX and a host of friends and extended family. 

Visitation will be at Apostolic Temple on Friday, February 12, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM.  Rev. Rick Treece will officiate. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
