Sheryl Lebleu Swift

Sheryl LeBleu Swift was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed to eternal rest on February 19, 2022 at the age of 75 in the presence of her two loving daughters, Sarah and Michelle.

Sheryl was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on December 7, 1946, and her blood ran deep with Southwest Louisiana history. Her lineage included Charles Sallier & Catherine LeBleu, John Jacob Ryan, and Thomas Bilbo of Calcasieu Parish; and Judge Samuel Henry and State Representative Glen Conway LeBleu of Cameron Parish. She rarely met a person in Southwest Louisiana to whom she was not somehow related. And if they weren’t family when they met, they were sure to be made to feel like family after.

Sheryl graduated from LaGrange High School in 1964, and received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from McNeese State University, where she was a member of Chi Omega. She was a former President of the Junior League of Lake Charles, Chairman of Pirates Pantry Cookbook, and Chairman for the American Cancer Society’s Show For Life.  She retired after a career as a school librarian at John J. Johnson Elementary, and A.M. Barbe High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry & Marjory Ware LeBleu, and her brothers Conway (Paige) LeBleu and Scooter LeBleu.

She is survived by her twin sister Marsha LeBleu (John) Delaney, her brothers Loree (Beverly) LeBleu and Armant LeBleu, her daughters Sarah Swift (Dan) Hill and Dr. Michelle Swift (Sean) Corcoran, and her greatest treasures, her eight grandchildren: Swift, Sawyer, and Hudson Hill; and John Francis, Zizi, Henry, Elijah, and Sophia Corcoran.

A graveside ceremony will be held under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Sheryl’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Baylor Lung Transplant Program in Dallas, Texas for their excellence in care and compassion.
