Shirley Anita Keith, 78, of DeRidder died at 6:32 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in her residence.
Mrs. Keith was born on December 18, 1934 in Alexandria and lived the majority of her life in Lake Charles. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Jasper, TX. She then moved to DeRidder a year ago. Mrs. Keith was a graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria. She was a stay at home mother while raising her children and began a working career once they were grown. She worked at The Fair Store as a saleslady for over 12 years before becoming Dr. Weiner's dental assistant for 10 years. Mrs. Keith was a member of Squyres United Methodist Church in Ragley and also belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Jasper, TX.
She was affectionately known as MeMaw by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Keith enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
Those left to cherish her memory are four children and their spouses, Terri Anita and Paul Martel of Sulphur, Greg and Robbin Halker of Lake Charles, Tracy and Jonathan John of Elton, and Stewart and Donna Keith of DeRidder; a brother and his wife, Carl and Wanda Sayer of Ball, LA; nine grandchildren, Jason and Steven Halker, Amelia Densmore, Martha and Miriam Armistead, Christina Barrow, and Nathan, Matthew, and Perry Keith; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loving pet dog, Sunshine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertie and Susie Sayer; her husband, Jack Keith; a sister, Melva Stolpa; a brother, Donny Sayer; and a grandson, Daniel Keith.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dick Phillips will officiate. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will begin on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the services.
