Shirley Badon, Sr.

March 8, 1928 — January 17, 2013

Raymond Shirley Badon, Sr. 84 passed away on January 17, 2013 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father Tom Huhn officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 11a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Robison Funeral Home and will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. until time of service. Shirley was born in Gueydan, LA and lived in Johnson Bayou most of his life. He worked for John Mecom Company in land management for several years. Raymond loved hunting, trapping, fishing, his garden and spending time with his family and friends. He led an active Cajun life in the bayou. Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus #2383. Shirley is survived by his children, Raymond Badon, Jr. and wife Sheryl of Sulphur, Gary B. Badon, Sr. and wife Connie of Johnson Bayou, Hank L. Badon, Sr. of Johnson Bayou, Randy P. Badon of Sulphur, Becky B. Fancher and husband, Bobby of Sulphur and Lisa B. Dougay and husband, James of Sulphur; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray Badon of Johnson Bayou, and Joseph M. Badon of Sulphur; sisters, Irene Trahan of Carlyss, Barbara Landry of Lake Charles, Estella Stutes of Erath, LA, Alice Mae Broussard of Lake Charles and Evelyn Cormier of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Agnes Badon; the mother of his children, wife of 37 years, Betty Miller; sister, Jeanette Trahan; brothers, Martin Harold Blue Badon, and William Lloyd Badon; and grandson, Hank L. Badon, Jr. The family would like donations to be made to the March of Dimes or St. Jude.
