Shirley Dean Self

Shirley Dean Self, 57, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Shirley was born to Beauford Earl and Marguerite Smith Self on Valentine’s Day, 1963.  She was a 1981 graduate of Lake Charles High School.  Her love for pets was all-consuming, as evidenced by her career as a dog groomer.  Her own beloved dog, Honey Bear, gave her immeasurable joy and companionship.  Shirley was a beautiful, radiant soul who was a blessing to those she loved.  She fought many health battles, but always maintained a positive, overcomer attitude.  She is now at peaceful rest with her Savior and in the company of her dear parents.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her sisters, Sylvia Crutchfield (Gary) of San Antonio, TX and Jo Crewell Johnson (Lloyd) of Lake Charles, LA; nephews, Jason Stewart (Amber) of Frisco, TX, Chris Stewart (Rachel) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Johnathan Crutchfield and Holly Crutchfield of San Antonio, TX; her niece, Lisa Stewart Meeks (Evan) of Houston, TX; and many loving great nephews and nieces.

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care given to their beloved sister and aunt by Dr. Percival Kane, Dr. Ben Thompson, and Dr. Reynard Odenheomer.
