Shirley Jean Pourteau Marcantel, 77, of DeQuincy, Louisiana peacefully passed from this life on February 12, 2013 in the presence of her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Winfred A. Pourteau and Edna Dunnehoo, and her husband, Shirley Marlin Marcantel.
Shirley Jean is survived by, one daughter, Camela Marcantel Arnold and husband, Tim of Sulphur, LA, one son, Rev. M.K. Marcantel and wife Lisa of Lake Charles, four grandchildren, Nicholas LaRocca and wife Melissa of DeQuincy, Jordan Arnold and wife Kristen of DeQuincy, Evan Clay Marcantel, and Dillon Marcantel both of Lake Charles, one great-grandchild, Jaxson Ryan LaRocca of DeQuincy, one brother James W. Pourteau and wife Karen of Gilmer, TX. two sisters, Patsy Corkran and husband Cliff and Ann Mitchell of Nederland, TX, one sister-in-law, Maxcille Marcantel Treme of DeQuincy, a dear friend, Mike Santora of DeQuincy, and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Shirley Jean was an active member of numerous churches thorough out the U. S. Over the years, she loved serving in her church. She served as a Commissioner in Charge for Elections in Calcasieu Parish. Shirley Jean enjoyed cooking for her family, the ministry, friends, and making crafts. She was an avid shopper. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandson, Jaxson.
Her services will be on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Apostolic Temple under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Ricky Treece, Rev. Dale Welch, and Rev. M.K. Marcantel will officiate. Burial will be in the DeQuincy Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Apostolic Temple. Visitation will be Friday in the Church at 10:00 AM until the time of services.
