Shirley Marlin Marcantel, 83, of Dequincy died at 5:05 AM on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in his residence.
Mr. Marcantel was born on July 18, 1928 in Dequincy and was a graduate of Dequincy High School and also attended Sowela Technical Institute. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Marcantel was a retired postman. Following retirement, he worked at James Pourteau Construction for 15 years. Mr. Marcantel was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Dequincy.
He had several hobbies including fishing, hunting, camping, carpentry, and gardening.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Jean Pourteau Marcantel of Dequincy; a daughter, Camela Marcantel Arnold and husband Timothy D. of Sulphur; a son, Rev. M.K. Marcantel and wife Lisa Peloquin of Dequincy; a sister, Maxcille Treme and husband Leo of Dequincy; four grandsons, Nicholas LaRocca and wife Melissa, Timothy Jordan Arnold, Evan Clay and Brantley Dillon Marcantel; a great grandson, Jaxson Ryan LaRocca; brother-in-law, James W. Pourteau and wife Karen of Gilmer, TX; and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Corkran and husband Cliff of Port Arthur, TX and Anne Mitchell of Port Neches, TX and aunt, Lela Heard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odelia and Alfred Marcantel and a sister, Marguerite Marcantel.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Pentecostal Church of Dequincy. The Rev. Dale Welch, Rev. Ricky Treece, Rev. M.K. Marcantel (son), and Rev. Wayne Neyland will officiate. Burial will be in Dequincy Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church beginning on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the services.
