Shirley Marie Eagleson Chesson

February 15, 1935 — November 8, 2012

Shirley Marie Eagleson Chesson, 77, of Sweetlake died Thursday, November 8, 2012, in a local care center.


Born in Lake Charles to Claude and Hortense Conner Eagleson, Mrs. Chesson was a graduate of Grand Lake High School and lived most of her life in Sweet Lake. Her father, Claude Eagleson, served as Cameron Parish Sheriff for sixteen years. Mrs. Chesson was a homemaker, deriving great joy in caring for her family. She loved to cook and play cards. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society and sang in the choir.


Mrs. Chesson is survived by two sons, Michael W. Chesson and wife Paula of Grand Lake and Mark D. Chesson and his companion, Lori Broussard, of Sweet Lake; daughter, Christine Chesson of Port Arthur; one brother, Larry Eagleson of Grand Lake; four sisters, Audrey Granger and Karen Badeaux, both of Lake Charles and Yvonne Mhire and Margaret Saltzman, both of Grand Lake; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Mervin Chesson; her parents; and a sister, Roberta Richard and her husband Wilbert.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Home. Father Bill Miller will officiate. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 8 a.m. until service time.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care given their mother to the doctors and staff at Resthaven Rehabilitation Center and Brighton Bridge Hospice.
