Shirley Mhire,75, of Grand Chenier died at 12:58 PM on Sunday June 24, 2012 in a local care facility.
Ms. Mhire was born on August 16, 1936 in Creole, Louisiana. Ms. Mhire was known for her Cajun Hospitality. She enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting, gardening , fishing, and playing cards with friends and family. She was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church, and made Cursillo #57.
Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Fray Zamora and wife Linda of Lake Charles, John Zamora of Lake Charles, and Ernest and wife Jessica of Grand Lake; three daughters, Mary Vincent and husband Anthony of Creole, Patricia Conner of Grand Chenier, and Liz Barnett and husband Ben of Creole; two step daughters, Brenda Smith of Lake Charles, and Millie Smith of Creole; Twenty nine grandchildren, Fifteen great grand children; brothers, Curtis Nunez of Kinder, and Preston Nunez of Iowa; sisters, Irma Granger of Sweet lake, Barbara Nunez of Kinder, Martha Vincent of Grand Lake, and Peggy Simon of Hackberry.
And one great great grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Mhire; brothers Elry "Big" , Perry, and Avery Nunez; sisters, Ina Armentor, Jeanette Clayton, Will Marie, and Mary Jane Nunez; and parents, Adonile and Mary Nunez; grandchildren Ramona Zamora and Jaime Boudreaux.
Funeral Services for Ms. Mhire will be at 3PM Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, Louisiana. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in St. Eugene Catholic Cemetery in Grand Chenier. Visitation will be Tuesday June 26, 2012 from 5 PM until 10 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A Cursillo Rosary will be at 7 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday June 27, 2012 at 8 AM until 1:30 PM.
