Shirley Rosalie Roberts

Shirley Rosalie Jett Roberts, 76, of Lake Charles, LA, was called to the heavenly home at 1:20 AM on Sunday, June 22, 2014. Born to Alfred and Vallie Jett on March 17, 1938 in Shreveport, LA, Shirley was the last of six daughters. She married her high school sweetheart, Jimmie Roberts, for whom she was with for forty-one years. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister, and aunt who adored children. She worked at Kings Mini School for twenty years and for Sale Street Baptist Church Preschool for 5 years. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her sisters, Marvadine Gilman and Lorene Herr, both of Lake Charles; and many nieces and nephews that loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie Ray Roberts; three sisters, Nancy Vollmer and husband Lorin, Margie O'Hara and husband Barney, Billie Demeritt and husband Elmer; and brother-in-laws, Frank Gilman and Johnny Herr. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Randy Edward will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the nurses and aids at Resthaven Nursing Center and to the nurses at Brighton Bridge Hospice.
