Sidney Louis Theriot

Sidney Louis Theriot, 60, of Lake Charles passed away at his residence on Nov. 14, 2015, surrounded by his family after a long battle with melanoma. He was born in Creole, Louisiana where he spent the majority of his life until moving to Lake Charles after Hurricane Rita. He was a graduate of South Cameron High School and McNeese State University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. In his life, he was a proud Eagle Scout and Scout Leader, served as the head of the Cameron Parish Ducks Unlimited chapter, and was a graduate of the 104th Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy. His accomplishments include being named the National Field Archery Association's "Bowfisher of the Year" and placing first in many field archery tournaments throughout the years. Sidney enjoyed the great outdoors, attending sporting events for his beloved McNeese Cowboys, and spending time with his family and friends. Sidney put his degree to use during his employment as a Corrections Officer at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. He also impacted many lives as a mentor and case manager with mental health services. He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife Robin LaFleur Theriot, and children Patrick Theriot and wife Bronwen, Chad Theriot and wife Anna, Lauren (Theriot) Leibee and husband Jared, Matthew Ross' Theriot and step-daughter Lauren LaFleur; two grandchildren, Riley Theriot and Randi Theriot, his sister Loretta Theriot, his brother Frank Theriot and wife Sue; his mother-in-law and father-in-law John and Margie Collins, mother-in-law and father-in-law Michael and Tracy LaFleur, brother-in-law Christopher LaFleur and fiancé Danricka Perez, brother-in-law Ryan LaFleur, sister-in-law Kelsie LaFleur and his cat, Jeaux Jeaux. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Victoria Savoie Manuel. Sidney was also blessed with many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends who faithfully visited and helped to care for him during his courageous battle with cancer. Sidney was preceded in death by his parents Alva Theriot Jones and Sidney Theriot Sr. and, stepfather William Jones. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 16th at 4 pm with a Rosary at 6 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 am until noon. His funeral will be Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 1 pm at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 715 Kirkman Street, Lake Charles, LA with Rev. Jack Myers officiating. Sidney will then take his final journey to Creole, LA where he will be laid to rest in the Chenier Perdue Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and/or MD Anderson Cancer Center. The family would like to thank Dr. Edward V. Hebert, Dr. Michael Broussard, Heart of Hospice, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Johnson Funeral Home, and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. Pallbearers will include John Collins, Gary Conner, Luke Conner, Chris Theriot, Vince Theriot, Joey Trosclair, and Jody Trosclair.
