Simon Lee Boudreaux

January 31, 1941 — June 14, 2020

Simon Lee Boudreaux, 79, of Rangely, CO, passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2020, with his devoted wife, Ellen, by his side after fighting numerous illnesses.

A native of Lake Charles, LA, Mr. Boudreaux attended Lake Charles High School for three and a half years, but due to moving his senior year, he graduated at LaGrange Senior High School in 1959. He was an outstanding athlete.  He lettered all four years in track and football, with a State Championship football title win at Lake Charles High School in 1958.  He attempted to play football at Louisiana State University, University of Louisiana and McNeese State University.  After receiving an injury at McNeese, he became a member of the cheerleading team.  He was hired as the area superintendent for Louisiana Resources in Creole in 1976.  He was the first chairman of the Cameron Parish Ducks Unlimited chapter, in which he started with Jim Bel in 1979.  Simon settled in Rangely in 1985 and quickly embraced his new home while never forgetting his Cajun roots. He worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years for the Williams Companies, along with several other organizations.  Upon retirement he enjoyed working and golfing with his wife at Cedar Ridges Golf Course, where they were an award-winning couples tournament team. Simon was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer.  He was a man of the marsh, as well as a man of the mountains. He just simply loved being outdoors. He had an excellent sense of humor, loved to tell stories (often more than once), and took pleasure in making people laugh. He was also an excellent cook, and especially loved to prepare dishes for local ladies’ golf club. Mr. Boudreaux leaves a legacy as an admirable man of strong ethics, morals and character with lots of love and laughter.

Simon was preceded in death by his parents, Orisca and Stanley Boudreaux; and by his beloved daughter, Cammie Boudreaux Hawes.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Edwards Boudreaux of Rangely, CO; son, Jeffrey Boudreaux of Lake Charles, LA; son-in-law, Charles Hawes (Cammie), III of Shreveport, LA; son, Sal Messina (Nicolle) of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Anne Rooks (Jason) of Mandeville, LA; and son, Clark Edwards (Norian) of Rangely, CO.

He is also survived by his brothers, Larry Boudreaux (Ester) of Lake Charles, LA, and Rodney Boudreaux of Many, LA.

Simon leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In consideration of the events of 2020, Mr. Boudreaux’s Memorial Services will be at 6:00 PM Friday, July 16, 2021 at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Rev. Marcus Wade will officiate.  Family and friends will gather Friday to honor his memory from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Simon's name to the American Lung Association.
