Slade Wayne Savoie

Slade Wayne Savoie, 15, passed away on April 27, 2024. He was born on August 16, 2008 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Kyle and Lacie White Savoie.

Slade was a student at Our Lady Queen of Heaven School and St. Louis Catholic High School. He was a member of the SLCHS soccer team and was all-district this year. He spent 5 years as a member of the Calcasieu Soccer Club Eagles Select team and was also a 2-year member of the Louisiana Soccer ODP team.

Slade aspired to be a Division I college soccer athlete and finance major. He was an avid and talented fisherman and hunter. Over the past 6 years, he also learned to play the electric guitar. One of Slade’s favorite things to do was hang out and play games with family and friends, and at the top of that list was going on his family “trips of a lifetime” every summer with his Momo, Popo, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

One passion of Slade’s was his entrepreneurial spirit and his work ethic. He had a spirit of acceptance with everyone that came into contact with him – from fellow athletes and classmates to complete strangers. Slade was genuinely thoughtful, caring, and humble.

Those left to cherish his memory are: His parents; his brother, Steel Savoie; his grandparents, Wendell and Darlene White, Gene and Debbie Benoit; his aunts & uncles, Dannie and Maria Harmon, Gareth and Wendy McCown, Eric and Katie Snow, and Lensi White; and his cousins, Greyson and Gabryel Snow.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles “Chuck” Savoie.

His funeral will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, May 2, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, located at 4321 Lake Street. Pastors Cale Erickson and Jody Lafleur will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on the evening of Wednesday, May 1, and will resume on Thursday at 10:00 AM continuing until the start of the service at 12:00 Noon.

The family would like to give special thanks to the soccer coaching staff at SLCHS and CSC for their time spent sharing and coaching Slade, giving him the opportunity to excel in soccer.

Slade, we were so blessed to have you in our lives. You brought so much joy to us. We will always love you and look forward to seeing you in heaven one day!
