Solomon Babineaux, 83, of Lake Charles died at 9:50 PM Friday, December 2, 2011 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
Solomon was born on November 28, 1928 in Cameron, LA to parents Alida and John Babineaux. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy where he served during WWII. Solomon worked as an operator for many years at Hercules before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Solomon was lay minister for many years at various hospitals, nursing homes, Phelps Correctional Institution and the juvenile detention center. Solomon was a member of the McNeese Cowboy Club for many years. Solomon was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted, guided for numerous people from around the United States and fished wherever he could drop his line.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Beatrice Hantz Babineaux of Lake Charles, one son Carl Eric Babineaux and wife Carolyn of Lake Charles, LA; two daughters Gail Tucker and fiance' Charles (Tiger) Molbert of Lake Charles, LA; and Kay Hobbs and husband Doug of Lafayette, LA; one brother John Alvin Babineaux of Lake Charles, LA; four sisters: Natalie Dougay of Lake Charles, LA; Annie Brewer of Moss Bluff, LA; Vella Stacy and Yvonne Key both of Lake Charles, LA; eight grandchildren: Jordan Smith, Eric Babineaux, Alisabeth (Morgan) Rivers, Si Tucker, Christopher Babineaux, Lindsay Hobbs, Adam Hobbs and Anne-Claire Babineaux; three great-grandchildren: Bradley Henderson, Jackson Rivers, and Jennings Rivers; and his Honey and Baby.
Solomon is preceded in death by his parents Alida and John Babineaux, one son David Alan, sisters Della Box and Elise Richard, and brother Hubert Babineaux.
His funeral will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11 AM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Rev. Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM followed by a scripture service to be held at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
