Sophia Suzanne Doré

Sophia “Sophie” Suzanne Doré, a loving daughter, sister and friend, passed away in the early morning hours of June 17th, 2021 at her home in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 22.

Sophie attended pre-k through eighth grade and high school at Episcopal Day School, and St. Louis Catholic High School, respectively, where she enjoyed sports like cross country, volleyball, basketball and cheer. She attended LSU and was finishing up her degree in Sociology with the hope of one day becoming a social worker – she truly wanted to help people and to make a difference in the world.

Sophie was a fiery soul. She held fast in her morals and was passionate about many social issues. She had (and still has) many friends and family members that cherished her vibrant energy. Sophie was not afraid to “tell it like it is,” and she never wasted time sugar-coating anything. She could be both goofy and stoic, contemplative and passionate. She loved steak and the finer things in life. She had a maturity beyond her years that was seen and appreciated by all.

Although she may not have reached her goal of becoming a social worker, she achieved her goal of making a difference in the world through all the lives that she touched along the way. We will forever love and miss our sweet Sophie. She is our guardian angel now, forever living on in our hearts.

Sophie is preceded in death by her uncle, Scott McNeill, and her grandfather, Kindel Parker McNeill. She is survived by her mother, Julie McNeill, her father, Jonathan Doré and stepmother, Lorena Doré, her sister, Chloé Doré, her maternal grandparents, Linda and Larry Andrews and Dianne McNeill, her paternal grandparents, Richard and Caren Doré, as well many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love her very much.

A memorial service will be held for Sophie at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd located at 715 Kirkman St, Lake Charles, LA on Thursday June 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Boo Kay will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
