Stanley Gene Trahan, Jr.

Stanley Gene Trahan, Jr., 71, of Westlake passed away Monday, September 03, 2012 in his home.


Mr. Trahan lived most of his life in Lake Charles and has lived the past two years in Westlake. He was a graduate of Landry High School. He served the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Trahan worked his younger years as a Meter Reader for Gulf States Utilities and an Operator for Hercules/Himont. He, along with his wife, were successful business owners of Briar Patch Day Care for nearly thirty-five years and Final Touch Collision Repair for twenty-five years. He took great pride in the attention and care given to the children and families of Briar Patch while his wife dedicates full time attention to Final Touch, together, they were a great team. Mr. Trahan served many years on the Louisiana State Board of Licensing for Childcare. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church.


Mr. Trahan enjoyed fishing and crabbing, playing dominos, carpentry work and was an avid golfer. He will be most remembered for his generosity and consideration of others and is overwhelming willingness to help. His greatest times were cooking, hanging out and visiting with family and friends.


He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of forty-eight years, Connie Miller Trahan of Westlake; two sons, Stanley Gene Trahan, III and wife Jennifer of Lake Charles and David Roy Trahan of Westlake; one grandchild, Tehia Duhon of Moss Bluff; lifelong friends, Tom and Rose Ramirez of Dallas, TX and Thomas and Diane Schexnider of Welsh; cousins, Speedy and Angie Fairfield of Lake Charles, Rupert and Jean Fairfield of FL and Arie and Jerry Kirk of Moss Bluff; nephew and niece, Stanley and Marlene Calderara of Lake Charles; brother-in-law, Ken Miller and wife Robin of Lake Charles and four sisters-in-law, Reiko Miller, Jackie Miller and Shirleen Miller, all of Lake Charles and Karen Miller of TX .


He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Gene Trahan, Sr. and Janette Shaheen Trahan and one sister, Janette Trahan Calderara and husband Johnny Calderara.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 06, 2012 in St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Albert Borel will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
