Stanley Nero Warburton, 85, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 27, 2015. Mr. Warburton was born on April 19, 1929 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. While attending, and later graduating the University of North Dakota, he met the love of his life. Upon earning a degree in Petroleum Geology, he married his "bride", packed all of his belongings in a $20 car, and began his career and new life in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He spent his life devoted to his family, his children, his friends, and business associates. Mr. Warburton built his own business working across the state and country as a geological consultant for companies and families alike, earning a reputation as Stan, the land man. Mr. Warburton was a member of several community and state organizations which were a reflection of a man who was steadfast and unwavering in his personal beliefs and convictions. He was a leader, advocate, and supporter of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, United Methodist Men, Oak Park United Methodist Church, Pioneer Club, Krewe de la Famille, McNeese State University Cowboys, Louisiana State Police, Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Village and Ducks Unlimited. Mr. Warburton's greatest joy and self proclaimed proudest accomplishment was raising his family of four daughters and one son. He leaves behind intangible legacies in his children and grandchildren living a life which taught them to embrace life's challenges with strength, character, and integrity and to seek out opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those he met. Central to his happiness was orchestrating, participating in, and sharing times with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the perfect combination of strength and kindness-always on call to fix things that were broken-whether it be a heart or lawnmower, "Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.'-he did and he was. Those left to cherish his memory are four daughters and their spouses, Kathy Phillips and Ralph of Sulphur, Kaaren Pantaleo and John of Lafayette, Karyl O'Banion of Lake Charles, and Kelly Cady and Jimmy of Lake Charles; a son, Brian Warburton of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Jay "Biff" Warburton of Colorado and Robert Warburton of Nebraska; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Ann Warburton; his parents, Flora and Stanley F. Warburton; a brother, Tim Warburton; and a sister, Joan "Dodie"Warburton. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all of Mr. Warburton's caregivers, Doloris Davidson, Karen Lominac, Shirley Jean, Shirley Tezeno, Sherrie Gillette, Katrina Mouton, and the staff of Heart of Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Roger Templeton will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will be held privately in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will begin on Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
