Stanley W. Paxton

October 28, 1934 — June 19, 2011

Stanley W. Paxton, 76, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 in a local hospital.


Mr. Paxton was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA and was a graduate of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge. He lived twenty five years in Houston, TX and has lived the past ten years in Lake Charles. He served in the United States Air Force aboard the RC-121. Mr. Paxton worked his younger years for Gulf States Utilities and retired from AB Dick Business Machines where he worked nearly 30 years as a Service Representative. Following his retirement he worked at Academy Sports Outdoors and Delicious Donuts. He was a member of South City Christian Church.


Mr. Paxton was an avid fisherman, golfer and #1 LSU football fan. He was a "grill master" as he also enjoyed cooking for others. He will be most remembered as a quiet, kind, gentle and loving man.


He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife, Ruth "Ellie" Johnson Paxton of Lake Charles; one step-son, Robert Kibodeaux of Lake Charles; two step-daughters, Angie Borrel of Sulphur and Becky McKean and husband Pete of Weatherford, TX; a sister, Doris Rodriquez and brother, Garner Paxton; the sisters, Jean Verret and husband Larry, Beverly Royer, Ann Bergeron, Della Comeaux and Elda Babineaux and husband Burt; brother, Lloyd Johnson and Jo; grandchildren, Shawn, Derek and Megan McGuffee and Adam and Nick Gill; three great grandchildren, Ty, Kirsten and Daniel and numerous nieces and nephews including Mary, Luke and Paula.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven G. and Anna Delaune Paxton, JR.


The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Doctor Keane O'Neal and his staff for their excellence in care and compassion.


Memorial services will at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Horace Bernard will officiate. Gathering of friends will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
