Stephen Jay Landry

December 17, 1953 — January 31, 2016

Stephen Jay Landry, 62, of Lake Charles, on January 31, 2016 traded his cross for a crown and is with his Holy Father. He waits on the Golden Shore for his precious daughter, loving mother, brother, sister, and a host of friends.

Steve was born in Panama City, Florida on Dec. 17, 1953 to Elmer Jay and JoAnn Landry. His family traveled the world with the United States Air Force settling in Lake Charles in 1965. Steve graduated from Iowa High School in 1972 and attended McNeese State University. He worked with and for his friends for 20 years. Then he began his service at First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles caring for his church family as they loved and cared for him. Steve lived his dream and was thankful for the opportunity to serve a church family that he loved so dearly. He was a kind, gentle servant putting the needs of all others before his own. Those that know him believe that God welcomed him to heaven with the words, “…Well done, good and faithful servant!” Matthew 25:21

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Jay Landry.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his precious daughter, Sophia Landry; mother, JoAnn Landry Horton; brother, Allen Landry and wife, Marilyn; sister, Susan Landry of New Orleans; his extended family, friends, and his loving church family.
