Stephen R. Streete

Stephen Ronald Streete, 71, passed away on March 18, 2022, at his residence in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  He was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 28, 1950, to Dr. William G. Streete and Mrs. Virginia Richardson Streete.

As the son of a United States Air Force surgeon, he lived on many bases in the United States and in Europe. Upon his father’s retirement from the Air Force the family moved to Lake Charles. Steve graduated from Lake Charles High School where he was an All-District and All-State football player his junior and senior year. He continued his education at Louisiana State University after receiving a scholarship to play football. He was an offensive lineman for the Tigers during his tenure at LSU.  His senior year he received the LSU Sportsmanship Award.

Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and then attended LSU Law School where he graduated in 1976.  Upon graduation, he worked under District Attorney Frank T. Salter, Jr. in the civil section until 1979. He then became a founding member of the law firm Salter, Streete & Hale, later Salter & Streete, where he practiced until his retirement.

One of his greatest joys was hunting with his friends in Thornwell, Louisiana and raising Black Angus cattle. 

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Stone Streete, his children, Jon Barton Streete, his wife Lisa, and their children, Jon Barton Streete, II, Jolie Kate Streete, and James Houston Streete; Foster Streete, his wife Megan, and their daughter, Macy Taylor Streete; Morgan Ann Streete and her husband, Matthew Mouhot, and their daughters, Emma Jane Mouhot and Eloise Claire Mouhot; and their daughter, Meredith Lane Fluitt, her husband Gabe, and their daughters, Bryn Marie Fluitt and Blair Camille Fluitt; his brother, Jon Gordon Streete and his wife Charlotte, his sisters Susan Streete Kinberger, and Barbara Streete Bailey.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. William G. Streete.

Funeral services for Steve will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at University Baptist Church.  Rev, Chan Willis will officiate. Visitation Tuesday will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church, 4505 West McNeese Street, Lake Charles, LA 70605.
