Stephen R. Sturrock

Stephen Roy Sturrock, 67, of Lake Charles, LA. was called Home on March 9, 2021 after a brief illness.

Steve was one of five children born to Anna Ruth Mays and Andrew Guy Sturrock Jr. He was born on April 25, 1953 in San Antonio, TX.

He attended Holmes High School, then enrolled into the United States Army, serving from 1975 to 1978, stationing in Germany before receiving an honorable discharge. He also attended Texas State Technical Institute where he earned a certification in Automotive Mechanics.

Upon relocating to the Lake Charles Area, he worked as a mechanic at a local auto shop. Then in April 1983, he accepted a position with Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. In his years of employment, he worked his way to a detective, then served as a warrant officer until his retirement in March 2013.

To his son Cody, he was a dutiful, involved, and proud father. Together they enjoyed their daily phone calls to discuss their days. He also loved going salt-water fishing. Upon retirement he enjoyed walking his dog around the neighborhood, checking on all his neighbors, running the roads, and spending mornings at KD’s drinking coffee with his prior colleagues and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory: his son, Cody A. Sturrock of Lake Charles; siblings, Susan (Mark) Moody of San Antonio, TX, Gary A. Sturrock of Virginia, and Nancy Sturrock of Georgia; his beloved dog, Leila and grand-dog, Nova.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents and a brother, Richard Sturrock.

The family will welcome friends on Friday, March 12, 2021 at University Baptist Church beginning at 5pm to 8pm. Visitation will resume Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 9am until time of service. A funeral service led by Pastor Steve Cox will begin at 10am under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home at University Baptist Church. He will be carried to his final resting place at Consolata Cemetery by the Calcasieu Parish Honor Guard.
