Steve Pelot Bruney

Steve "Pelot" W. Bruney, 90, of Moss Bluff died at 9:15 PM on Friday, May 4, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Bruney was born on September 12, 1921 in Indian Village, Louisiana and has lived in Moss Bluff for most of his life. He served in the National Guard and the United States Navy during WWII and also during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Burney worked as an Iron worker for more than 30 years. He also worked as a truck driver for 10 years. Mr. Bruney also worked part time for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Department. He was a member of Eastwood United Pentecostal Church in Lake Charles. In his spare time he loved going to church, reading the bible, quoting scripture, and sharing the word of the Lord with others. Mr. Bruney also loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.


He is survived by four daughters; Connie LaCour and her husband Lester of Moss Bluff, LA., Ethel Parker and husband Willard of Gillis, LA, Melba Bellomo and husband Jay of Moss Bluff, Devern Fuselier and husband Bobby of Evangeline, LA, three sons; Steve Bruney and wife Kathy of Moss Bluff, LA, Craig Bruney of Moss Bluff, LA, Dale Bruney and wife Kelly of Westlake, LA, one sister, Vernice "Mokey" Cole of Moss Bluff, LA, 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way.


Mr. Bruney is preceded in death by his wife Marie Terrell Bruney, second wife Gladys Kingery Bruney, son Richard Bruney, grandson Mike Hanks, and his parents Dorceline and Matt Bruney.



His funeral will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Eastwood United Pentecostal Church. Revs. Aaron Lopez and Mark Culton will officiate. Burial will be in Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue at 9:00AM on Monday at the church.
