Steven Ellis Hickox

Steven Ellis Hickox, 66, passed away on May 13, 2018.

Steve attended the University of Texas at El Paso on a full music scholarship where he played the trumpet. He also enjoyed listening to jazz music while driving and at home.

Although his roots were in west Texas, Steve had made many friends in Lake Charles since moving to the Lake Area some 20 years ago. He was a natural-born salesman who worked in a variety of fields, mostly in advertising sales.

Steve was an avid golfer in his day and a sports fan who, in his adopted state, became a huge fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints. Both frustrated him as much as they thrilled him — and he was never shy about expressing which emotion was in play at the moment — but he spent many fun nights cheering on those teams with his friends. He is remembered as a good cook and he enjoyed sharing this talent with others.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Hickox Pine and her husband Nickolas; granddaughter, Norah; and brother, Woody Hickox and his wife Penny and his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Hazel Hickox.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
