Steven Hill

November 14, 1949 — April 10, 2020

Steven Ray Hill, 70, of Lake Charles, died on Friday April 10, 2020 at his residence after an extended illness.

Steve was born in New Orleans and a long-time resident of Lake Charles. He retired as an operator from the Port of Lake Charles and was of the Catholic Faith. Steve was also known to many as Santa Claus, a role that he took on each year as an extension of the North Pole in Southwest Louisiana. He took great pride in bringing joy to children sitting in his lap telling him what they would like for Christmas. Children would often times pull at his beard and poke at his belly to see if was “real”. Each year the role became more physically challenging to him, but he and “Mrs. Claus” would not disappoint the children.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Euna Meaux Hill; wife and mother of his children Emma Marie Meaux Hill; son-in-law, Ricky Swire; stepdaughter, Tiffany Hinch; and brothers, Ronnie, Carl and Jason Hill. Those left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his wife, Patricia Saucier Hill; daughters, Shane Swire and Shannon Raye Hill; son, Steven Hill and wife Lori; stepdaughters, Alisha Fall and Wendy Klingsmith and husband Aaron; God son, Tony Myers; sister, Mary Gayle Ward; grandchildren, David and Tye Swire; Shandy Warren, Mason Hill; Morgan and Cole Hinch; Solange and Malick Fall; and Nathan and Zoe Klingsmith as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A Private memorial service will take place at Johnson Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
