Stuart Hanford Wever, Sr., 91, of Ragley died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Wever was born on September 23, 1923 in Miami, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy for more than 20 years during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Dominican Republican Campaign. Mr. Wever worked in the air conditioning and refrigeration field in the military before being recruited by the Calcasieu Parish School Board in the early 1980's. He then moved to Lake Charles and became an instructor for the school board until his retirement. He was an animal lover and enjoyed taking care of his pets. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 years, Alecia Wever of Ragley; four children, Mona Cook of Enterprise, AL, Mick Wever and wife Mary of Tampa, FL, Jan Wever of Enterprise, AL, and Kim Wever and wife Pat of Enterprise, AL; two brothers and their wives, Lane Wever and Pat of Miami, FL and Billy Wever and Faye of Fort Pierce, FL; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Paul Holmes will officiate. Burial will follow in Sallier Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
