Susan Ann Salter Galicia

June 30, 1947 — October 1, 2021

Susan Ann Salter Galicia, 74, a longtime resident of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Friday October 1, 2021 in Guatemala with her family at her side.

Susan was born in Beaumont, Texas to John C. and Waldene Bettis Salter. She was a graduate of Sunset High School where she participated in band, basketball and cheerleading. Following graduation from high school, she achieved a degree in Mortuary Science from McNeese State University, and later a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She retired from nursing after many years.

On December 27, 1972, she married the love of her life, Fredy Galicia, from Guatemala. Fredy and Susan enjoyed an adventurous life together, between her family in Louisiana to his family in Guatemala, along with places in between. Together they enjoyed entertaining family and friends, always being a gracious host having a full day of activities planned for their visitors. They also enjoyed “flipping” houses as they went. Susan also enjoyed sewing, dancing and being a mother and grandmother to her family.

Preceding Susan in death are her parents. She leaves to honor and cherish her memories to her loving and devoted husband of nearly 50 years, Fredy Galicia; children, Carmen Dina Galicia, and her children, Cameron David LeClercq and Daniella Pinto; all of Phoenix, and Freddy Rodolfo Galicia (Shelly) and their children, Divina Avery Galicia, Drew Rodolfo Galicia and Dreyk Storm Galicia; and stepson Everette Chad Galicia and his children, Bailey Galicia and Allison Galicia; siblings, Sandi Salter Berry; Shelya Salter Langley (Lester) and Sallye Salter (Shari Abshire); sister-in-law, Mabel Galicia as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.

A celebration of Susan’s life will take place at 5:00 PM at the chapel of Trinity Baptist Church, 1800 Country Club Rd, Lake Charles, LA on Friday November 5, 2021 with the Pastor Gabriel Cruz officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
