Susan Patricia Ward

Susan Patricia Ward was born July 31, 1949 in Miami, Florida to the late Harvey H. and Carol J. Comfort.

She attended Clearwater High School, then began attending Belhaven College where she was captain of varsity cheerleading squad, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

In her younger years she taught elementary, followed by middle school math. Upon welcoming her three children, she stepped down from her position to be a full-time mother and homemaker.

She would always greet you with a smile and a knew just what to say to make you feel special. She is best remembered for her kind, loving and welcoming demeanor; her ability to be the perfect hostess.

For the last seven years, Lake Charles has been her home where she enjoyed many days spoiling her grandchildren. In her down time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with her dogs, or taking trips to Hawaii.  

Those left to cherish her memory: two daughters, Julie Lucas Abshire and Jennifer (Benjamin) Lucas Cook; a son, Calvin J. IV (Mary Alice) Lucas; grandchildren, Madeline Patricia Curry, Cole Byron Curry, Clay Harvey Abshire, Caylee Claire Nevils, Morgan Rhea Lucas, Hudson Jay Lucas, Lucas Lee Cook, Samuel Van Cook, Caroline Jean Cook, and Judson Russell Cook; two sisters; Connie Kimbrel and Janet Wash.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff beginning at 1pm with a celebration of life service to begin at 3pm. She will be laid alongside her parents at First United Methodist Church in Homosassa, Florida.
